Doubler

The Doubler stacks two, four or six detuned, delayed voices around the dry signal for instant thickness - the classic vocal-double sound without cutting another take. Detune, delay and width set the size of the crowd; drift with adjustable randomness keeps the voices moving like people instead of an LFO.

What keeps it professional is the anchoring: the dry center stays at full strength, transient width reduction pulls the voices in on every hit so consonants stay focused, and voice filters plus a low guard keep the double out of the mud.

Why it hits different

The GhostWare take.

  • Randomized drift makes voices human, never robotic.
  • Transient anchoring keeps the center solid on every consonant.
  • Voice filtering and low guard - thickness without the smear.

Voices

How many doubled voices are added: 2, 4 or 6.

246
Delay 8 to 35 ms (default 18 ms)

Base offset of the voices from the dry signal.

Detune 1 to 15 c (default 7 c)

Pitch offset of the voices, in cents - the core of the doubler thickness.

Drift 0 to 2 Hz (default 0.2 Hz)

Slow movement of each voice's timing so the double sounds human.

Width 0 to 200 % (default 100 %)

Stereo spread of the voices.

Anchor 0 to 150 % (default 100 %)

Level of the dry center against the voices - keep it high for a solid lead.

Trans Width 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Narrows the voices on transients so hits stay focused.

Voice HP 20 to 2000 Hz (default 20 Hz)

High-passes the voices to keep the double out of the mud.

Voice LP 1000 to 20000 Hz (default 20000 Hz)

Low-passes the voices for a softer blend.

Drift Rand 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Randomizes the drift so voices never move in lockstep.

Low Guard 20 to 500 Hz (default 20 Hz)

Keeps frequencies below this point out of the doubling.
