Spectral Freeze

Spectral Freeze grabs the full sonic fingerprint of a moment and holds it as an infinite drone. Capture manually, automatically on hits above a threshold, or on a tempo grid - so freezes land on the beat. A resolution control trades how fast the freeze responds against how smooth it sounds.

The frozen material is a playground: time and frequency blur smear it into wash, denoise strips it to the tonal core, pitch shifts it two octaves each way with slow drift, and shimmer and sparkle controls keep the frozen tone alive instead of ringing statically - while the dry signal's hits can punch through so the rhythm survives the ice age.

Why it hits different

The GhostWare take.

  • Hit-triggered and tempo capture modes freeze in time with the music.
  • Blur, denoise and sparkle controls sculpt the frozen sound itself.
  • Transient pass-through keeps grooves alive inside the drone.

  • 1
    SPECTRAL DISPLAY

The frozen sound, drawn across the frequency spectrum.

  • 2
    FREEZE / THAW

The big moment: latch the spectrum, thaw it back on command.

  • 3
    BLUR DECK

Time / freq blur, denoise, tilt and drift shape the frozen tail.

Control Showcase

Every control, explained.

17 controls, named exactly as they appear in the plugin.

Freeze

Freeze grabs the current spectrum and holds it as an infinite drone; Thaw releases it.

ThawFreeze
FFT Size

Freeze resolution: small reacts fast, large is smoother and more precise (FFT size).

102420484096819216384
Time Blur 0 to 10 s (default 0 s)

Smears the spectrum over time - even unfrozen audio turns to wash.

Freq Blur 0 to 48 bins (default 0 bins)

Blurs energy across neighboring frequencies for softer, cloudier spectra.

Denoise 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Strips low-level spectral noise from the freeze so only the tonal core remains.

Feedback 0 to 95 % (default 0 %)

Recycles the frozen spectrum into itself for slowly mutating drones.

Capture

How freezes are taken: Manual (the Freeze switch), Transient (auto-freeze on hits) or Tempo (freeze on a beat grid).

ManualTransientTempo
Threshold -60 to 0 dB (default -36 dB)

Hit level required to trigger a Transient capture.

Interval

Beat grid for Tempo capture mode.

1/11/21/41/81/16
Release 10 to 2000 ms (default 300 ms)

How fast an automatic freeze lets go.

Phase Rand 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Adds gentle randomness inside the freeze so it shimmers instead of ringing statically.

Tilt -6 to 6 dB (default 0 dB)

Tilts the frozen spectrum darker or brighter.

Pitch -24 to 24 st (default 0 st)

Pitch-shifts the frozen material, up to two octaves each way.

Drift 0 to 100 ct (default 0 ct)

Slow random pitch drift of the frozen tone.

Stereo Lock 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Locks left and right freezes together; lower values let the sides drift apart.

Bin Jitter 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Randomly nudges tiny slices of the frozen spectrum for granular sparkle inside the freeze.

Transient 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Passes the dry signal's transients through the freeze so rhythm survives.
