Tape Stop

Tape Stop is the drop button: trigger it and the audio brakes to a halt like a real machine, with an adjustable stop time, curve and depth - full stops or dramatic dips. Auto Return spins back up automatically, with its own duration and curve for the restart.

The physics sell it: the signal darkens as the tape slows, wow and flutter shake the transport during the effect, motor noise rises underneath, and Low Preserve keeps the low end clean through the stop when the mix needs its floor. Sync locks stop lengths to musical values from half a beat to four bars.

Why it hits different

The GhostWare take.

  • Separate stop and restart curves - the spin-up is as musical as the drop.
  • Speed-linked damping and transport noise for machine realism.
  • Low Preserve keeps the drop from swallowing your low end.

Control Showcase

Every control, explained.

16 controls, named exactly as they appear in the plugin.

Stop Time 50 to 4000 ms (default 800 ms)

How long the tape takes to slow to a stop.

Curve 0 to 100 % (default 50 %)

Shape of the slowdown: linear braking to steep exponential drop.

Depth 0 to 100 % (default 100 %)

How far the stop goes - 100% is a full halt, less is a dramatic dip.

Sync

Locks the timing to your session tempo at the chosen note value instead of free-running.

Off1/21/12/14/1
Trigger on / off

Fires the tape stop. Automate this for drops.

Auto Return on / off

Automatically spins back up after the stop completes.

Low Preserve 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Keeps the low end running clean through the stop.

Smoothness 0 to 100 % (default 50 %)

Smooths the pitch trajectory of the stop.

Restart 0 to 8000 ms (default 0 ms)

How long the spin-back-up takes. 0 snaps back instantly.

Restart Curve 0 to 100 % (default 50 %)

Shape of the spin-up.

Wow 0 to 2 % (default 0 %)

Adds wow to the transport during the effect.

Wow Rate 0.05 to 2 Hz (default 0.35 Hz)

Speed of that wow.

Flutter 0 to 1 % (default 0 %)

Adds flutter during the effect.

Flutter Rate 1 to 12 Hz (default 6 Hz)

Speed of that flutter.

Damping 1000 to 20000 Hz (default 20000 Hz)

Darkens the audio as the tape slows, like a real machine.

Noise -96 to -24 dB (default -96 dB)

Transport/motor noise level during the stop.
