Tone EQ

Tone EQ is the fast lane for tone. Instead of anonymous band numbers you get Low Weight, Low Tighten, Body, Presence and Air - five bands named after what they actually do to a sound, each with a movable center frequency, plus a spectral Tilt, sweepable high-pass and low-pass filters with selectable slopes, and an optional analog-style Color stage.

It is the EQ you reach for first: sketch the tonal balance in seconds, then scale the whole curve up or down with one Gain Scale control while you compare. When you need surgical precision instead, hand off to Surgical EQ - Tone EQ stays the musical one.

Why it hits different

The GhostWare take.

  • Bands named for results - Body and Air, not "band 3" and "band 5".
  • Gain Scale rides the entire curve with one knob, perfect for A/B honesty.
  • A Color stage adds analog-style harmonic glue as the EQ works.

In the shot

Reading the panel.

  • 1
    TONE CURVE

Six fixed-band nodes over the live spectrum - drag to shape.

  • 2
    TILT DECK

Tilt, color and output. Broad strokes, no surgery.

Control Showcase

Every control, explained.

19 controls, named exactly as they appear in the plugin.

Low Weight -12 to 12 dB (default 0 dB)

Adds or removes low-end mass around the Low Weight Freq - the fastest way to make something heavier or lighter.

Low Tighten -12 to 12 dB (default 0 dB)

A low-mid band aimed at woolly buildup; cut to clean up, boost for warmth.

Body -12 to 12 dB (default 0 dB)

The midrange core of the sound. Boost for fullness, cut to make room in a mix.

Presence -12 to 12 dB (default 0 dB)

Upper-mid energy that pushes a sound forward. Boost for bite, cut to sit it back.

Air -12 to 12 dB (default 0 dB)

The very top octave. Boost for sheen and openness.

Tilt -12 to 12 dB (default 0 dB)

Tips the whole spectrum around the pivot: negative is darker, positive is brighter.

HP Freq 20 to 500 Hz (default 20 Hz)

High-pass corner - everything below this frequency is rolled away.

HP Slope

How steep the high-pass rolls off: 6 dB is gentle, 12 dB is standard, 24 dB is a hard cut.

LP Freq 1000 to 20000 Hz (default 20000 Hz)

Low-pass corner - everything above this frequency is rolled away.

LP Slope

How steep the low-pass rolls off: 6 dB is gentle, 12 dB is standard, 24 dB is a hard cut.

6 dB12 dB24 dB
Output -24 to 24 dB (default 0 dB)

Final level trim after the module, for matching loudness when you compare.

Low Weight Freq 40 to 200 Hz (default 90 Hz)

Where the Low Weight band sits, from sub thump (40 Hz) to upper bass (200 Hz).

Low Tighten Freq 100 to 600 Hz (default 260 Hz)

Where the Low Tighten band works, targeting mud between 100 and 600 Hz.

Body Freq 250 to 2500 Hz (default 650 Hz)

Center of the Body band across the midrange.

Presence Freq 1500 to 9000 Hz (default 4000 Hz)

Center of the Presence band across the upper mids.

Air Freq 5000 to 18000 Hz (default 12000 Hz)

Where the Air shelf begins.

Color 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Adds gentle analog-style harmonic color as the EQ works. 0 is fully clean.

Tilt Pivot 200 to 5000 Hz (default 1000 Hz)

The hinge frequency the Tilt control rotates around.

Gain Scale 0 to 200 % (default 100 %)

Scales every band at once: under 100% softens the whole curve, over 100% exaggerates it.
