Module Reference · Glitch & Destruction

Beat Repeat

Beat Repeat listens on a beat grid and, with a probability you set, grabs a slice and repeats it - 2 to 16 times, gated to note lengths, with pitch shift, per-repeat decay and a reverse chance per repeat. Interval and offset controls decide how often and where in the bar events can fire.

Variation randomizes slice behavior so no two events sound alike, swing and jitter loosen the timing, a filter and bipolar feedback degrade the repeats musically, and pan alternation throws them across the stereo field. Set it subtle for occasional ear candy or aggressive for full IDM dismemberment.

Why it hits different

The GhostWare take.

  • Chance-based firing means fills happen, not loops.
  • Per-repeat decay, reverse and gating sculpt each roll.
  • Feedback into the capture for compounding degradation.

Control Showcase

Every control, explained.

21 controls, named exactly as they appear in the plugin.

Grid

Slice size that gets captured and repeated, in note values including triplets.

1/41/81/161/321/8T1/16T
Chance 0 to 100 % (default 25 %)

Probability a repeat event fires at each interval.

Repeats

How many times the captured slice repeats.

2346816
Pitch -12 to 12 st (default 0 st)

Pitch shift applied across the repeats.

Decay 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Fades each successive repeat down.

Reverse 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Chance that a repeat plays backwards.

Variation 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Randomizes slice choice and behavior so no two events sound alike.

Crossfade 0.1 to 20 ms (default 5 ms)

Crossfade at slice edges to stay click-free.

Interval

How often the module considers firing: every grid step, half bar, bar, or up to 8 bars.

Grid1/2 Bar1 Bar2 Bars4 Bars8 Bars
Offset 0 to 8 bar (default 0 bar)

Shifts the firing position within the interval, in bars.

Gate

Truncates each repeat to this note length for choppier rolls.

Off1/161/81/41/21 Bar
Shape 0 to 100 % (default 75 %)

Envelope shape of each repeat.

Gate Attack 0 to 50 ms (default 1 ms)

Attack of the per-repeat gate.

Gate Release 0 to 100 ms (default 5 ms)

Release of the per-repeat gate.

Swing 0 to 100 % (default 50 %)

Applies swing to the repeat timing.

Jitter 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Randomizes repeat timing for looser rolls.

Filter

A filter over the repeats: low-pass, high-pass or band-pass.

OffLPHPBP
Cutoff 20 to 20000 Hz (default 16000 Hz)

The corner frequency of the filter.

Q 0.3 to 8 (default 0.707)

Width of the filter: low values are broad and gentle, high values are narrow and surgical.

Feedback -95 to 95 % (default 0 %)

Feeds repeats back into the capture for compounding degradation. Negative flips polarity.

Pan Alt 0 to 100 % (default 0 %)

Alternates repeats left and right.
